Step back into Manly’s golden seaside era with this vibrant artwork inspired by historic scenes from the iconic Manly Harbour Pool and Pavilion c1937.
Originally opened in 1931 beside Manly Wharf, the harbour pool quickly became one of the Northern Beaches’ most beloved swimming spots. Families gathered along the promenade, swimmers dove from the pontoons, and the sheltered waters of Manly Cove created a lively summer atmosphere that defined coastal life in Manly for generations.
This artwork reimagines that historic scene in the style of classic mid-century travel posters, bringing colour, warmth and nostalgia to one of Manly’s most cherished landmarks.
Part of the Lost Manly Historic Reimagined Series, the piece blends historical inspiration with contemporary design to celebrate the places and memories that shaped Manly and the Northern Beaches.
Perfect for coastal homes, beach houses, cafés and gallery walls.
THE HISTORY
The Manly Harbour Pool opened in 1931 and quickly became one of the Northern Beaches’ most popular swimming destinations.
Located beside Manly Wharf, the pool provided sheltered harbour swimming and a lively promenade where families gathered throughout the summer months.
Diving pontoons, boardwalk seating and views across Manly Cove created a vibrant social atmosphere that defined seaside life during the pre-war decades.
Although the structure was destroyed during the Sygna storm of 1974, the Harbour Pool remains one of Manly’s most remembered coastal landmarks.
Historic photographs like this preserve the memory of a place that shaped the social life of Manly for generations.
