This painting pre-dates WW2. It is of a former car ferry before the Harbour Bridge opened, Koondooloo, which was converted in 1936-37 to become a showboat plying the harbour. A second deck was later added but the war ended its viability. After war service for the navy, it returned to being a car ferry in Newcastle until 1971.
